How a mark is written

Every bag we ship is stencilled with the same six fields, in the same order, and the contract repeats them. If a bag and a contract disagree, the bag is the one that has been in a warehouse.

KLD
Exporter. Ours, on our own ICO code — not a shipper's.
GY
Origin. GY Gayo · MD Lintong & Mandailing · TR Toraja · KT Kintamani · BJ Bajawa · JP Preanger.
26/27
Crop year, not the shipping year. A coffee picked in November 2026 stays 26/27 even if it sails in March.
WP
Process. WP wet-hulled ‘wet process’ · FW fully washed · HON honey · NAT natural.
G1
Grade. See below.
S16
Screen size, in sixty-fourths of an inch. S16 is 6.35 mm.

Grades

The Indonesian national standard lets a Grade 1 carry up to eleven defect values in 300 grams. We cut ours tighter than that, at the specialty threshold, and say so on the contract rather than leaning on the national grade.

Grade 1
No category-one defects, no more than 5 full defects per 300 g, no cup faults. This is what leaves under our mark.
Grade 2
6–12 full defects per 300 g. Offered when a crop is difficult, and only if you have asked for it.
Screen 16+
Standard on every mark. 6.35 mm and above, maximum 5% passing below.
Screen 18+
Available on Gayo and Toraja. Costs yield, so it costs money.
Peaberry
Separated on the Gayo and Mandailing lines, screen 10–12, by request.

Packing

Everything ships inside a hermetic liner. Jute alone will let a coffee take on the smell of a container and lose a point of moisture on a long leg, and neither of those is recoverable.

Standard
60 kg jute with a GrainPro Ultra Hermetic liner, 320 bags to a 20-foot container
Half bags
30 kg jute with liner, on request, for roasters splitting a container
Micro-lots
25 kg vacuum-packed boxes, palletised
Samples
300 g foil, or 1 kg vacuum for a roast trial
Pallets
ISPM-15 heat-treated, on request; 300 bags to a container when palletised
Unroasted grey-green coffee beans filling a jute sack.
Wet-hulled Sumatra, hulled and graded, going into 60 kg jute.

Pricing basis

Price may be fixed against the ‘C’ up to 30 days before shipment
Forward
Sumatran crop opens for contracting in March, eastern islands in January
Payment
30% on contract, balance against copy documents, or LC at sight

Samples

Type sample
300 g, representative of the mark. Free to roasters; you cover the courier.
Offer sample
Drawn from one specific lot in the warehouse, against a live offer.
Pre-shipment
Drawn from the stuffed lot itself, not from the mill retain. Nothing sails before you approve it.
Counter-sample
Sealed and held at the Medan lab for twelve months, in case we ever have to argue.
